Famous Ain’t Rich Screen Prints

Here’s another preview of some treats that will be at the show on the 30th. I made a piece for the power in numbers show that said famous ain’t rich, and I wasn’t totally happy with the way it came out but I wanted to do something more with that phrase. A lot of people get tied up in making money that they forget the basics, it’s not money that makes you famous, it’s who you are and how you treat people. If you have stacks of cash but yet you’re an asshole that doesn’t care about the people that got you there, eventually those people will leave you high and dry and your only friends will be dead presidents, so the phrase keeps me in check with every thing, I never want to get to the point where money becomes my soul purpose for art.
These “dollars” are 4.5″(h) x 11″(w) and there are a bunch of little treasures hidden in the bill itself, I mean there’s the classic Batman logo and Bat Mobile in the “One Dollar” at the bottom, but I’m not talking about those kinds of treasures, there are some little Nom treats around. First, the “star” on the left is replaced with our logo and has all of our initials in it. Then, the top section says famous ain’t rich, below that it says “The United Artists of America” because the main focus of Nom is to get people united and motivated to make an artistic “change”, uniting your “Name” (Nom en français) and “Now”. The numbers you see on the bottom left and top right is the date that Nom was “created/started” A (april) 04/10/2009 (A04102009A). On the bottom left I signed the print as if I were the “Treasurer of the US” and across from that is the number of the print.
These will be a special treat at the show because they are actually going to be part of a collaboration with a bunch of local Philly sticker artists such as; El Toro, Goest, UWP, Rog, WTF, and possibly a few more. These guys are the kings of this phrase they are out there on the streets and people whisper their names here and there and to me, that is fame. They aren’t rollin in the cash but kids sit in their houses anticipating sticker packs from these guys and that is just so amazing to me, they are idolized for their stickers and yet you could bump into them on the street and have no idea that they were the artists.
It’s an edition of 28 and they will have a screen print on one side and an exclusive drawing on the other. It will be a pretty piece to pick up and IT’S FREE! So get there early and try to scoop one from your local fav’s.
