365 Days of City Hall
September 3, 2011 § 1 Comment
I recently started a new tumblr called City Hall 365 where the idea is that I am going to attempt to take a photo of Philadelphia’s City Hall for every day of the year. This idea arose from me getting a new job at 160over90 and sitting right next to a huge window with a perfect view of City Hall all and also from riding my bike through it every day on the way home from work.
It’s very weird because I grew up skating there but never really took the time to look around or understand it’s historical significance. It’s a gorgeous building with so many little design elements, patterns, and sculptures that go unnoticed by the 100’s of people that work there and walk through it every day. So, because of my mild obsession with Instagram and anything in a series, this baby was born. You can follow along on my instagram (user name: MikeSmith) and twitter with the hashtag #ch365, or go to the actual tumblr and peep some of my mediocre coding skills.
This is the icon/logo that I designed for the blog inspired mostly by the illustration style of Tim Boelaars and his powerful/heavy stroke work. Take a minute to check out his work, he has some amazing pieces on his site including his Momentus Project Piece.
There’s no need to take any of this seriously, this is just a fun side project I decided to take on. So don’t crucify me if I miss a day or two.
