My name is Mike Smith. I am a designer at 160over90 here in the lovely city of Philadelphia. In my spare time I do some Street Art under the name Nom Now.

This blog is a collection of my designs, photos, and events that happen to me.

Feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, concerns, or if you’d like to collaborate on something I’m most likely game.

Hey i was wondering what font you used for the big font on the inside of the american red cross annual report? Is it a condensed gotham font?

    Alright Mike,

I’ve not long found your blog but I’ve already had a good read through it all, how did you go about adding a texture to the ‘Loose lips sink ships’ piece? and what texture did you use? Also, do you have any left?

Admire what you do mate, keep going.

    Cheers.

It’s just a paper texture in photoshop. You can go to stockphoto sites like sxc.hu and find some nice royalty free paper images, orrrrrr scan in your own. Then you toss that in the background of your psd, go into the overlying layer’s layer styles you’ll see a black and white slider bar at the bottom and you just hold alt/option while dragging the white or black sliders towards the middle until you achieve the texture you like. Let me know if that works out for ya.

I’m absolutely loving the wheat pastes and stickers you’ve put up throughout Philly as well as the meaning behind everything. Do you screen print your own designs or is their a shop in the city that does it for you. I’m an art student and I’d love to start bringing the screen printing aspect into my final pieces.

Thanks so much man! It means a lot to hear that people are liking what we’re doing. The big boys aren’t screen prints, but we do screen print some of the little guys. It’s kind of half and half. We screen print some, and we get some printed from a reg printer.

  • love seeing your work around the city man. keep it up.

Working with Nom Now was/is a dream. So creative. So open. So inspired. So present. So good. I can’t thank you enough for the smarts that went into creating this series of posters.

    Hello,
Came across some of your work posted on FFFFound. I googled NomNow which led me to your site. Incredible work. I’m a designer up in Toronto, and I just wanted to send some design love your way. Awesome stuff! Love your posts.
